Who qualifies and how to claim the ElevenReader year

The student page's FAQ spells out four conditions. Miss one and the claim fails, so check before you start.

• Be currently enrolled in an educational program, or be an educator. Your institution must be on ElevenLabs' eligible-institution list — a .edu address alone is not enough. If your school is missing, there is a request form to get it added.
• Sign up with your school-issued email address, because your ElevenLabs account email must match the verified academic email.
• Be 18 or older. ElevenReader does not extend the offer to under-18s.
• Go through the "Get 1 year free" flow on elevenreader.io/students and verify the address in your academic inbox. The discount unlocks once verification completes.

The confusing bit: "We currently do not offer dedicated discounts..."

Here is where the contradiction comes from. Scroll the FAQ on ElevenReader's own pricing page and you will still find this line, word for word: "We currently do not offer dedicated discounts for students, educators, or non-profit organizations. Check back soon as we launch special discounts."

That text is stale. The live page at elevenreader.io/students offers exactly the discount the FAQ denies — a full year of Ultra for verified students and educators. The FAQ was never updated when the offer launched. The students page is the authoritative one, and it is the page our deal page links to for claiming. If a third-party review quotes the "no discounts" line, it is quoting the outdated FAQ, not the offer.

What if you want the ElevenLabs platform, not the reading app?

Different need, different answer. If you want API credits, voice cloning, or dubbing for a student project, the ElevenReader year does you no good — it covers the reading app only, and ElevenReader audio cannot be exported or used outside the app. Your honest options:

• Start on the free tier: 10,000 credits a month, roughly ten minutes of high-quality speech, with attribution required and no commercial rights. Enough to prototype a student project.
